About the Photographer

Welcome to Phorse Images! My name is Markley Main, or MJ, as I'm better known. I am a professional photographer and equestrian located in Charleston, SC. When I was younger, I was in love with taking pictures of just about everything. So, in 2018 my grandfather got me my first proper camera. I immediately started photographing my horses at home, putting up props and posing my Haflinger with them, surely driving him crazy. My passion for the art took off in those first couple of years. As a competitive dressage rider (and the daughter of a wonderful dressage trainer) I am always at shows. This gave me many wonderful opportunities to snap some shots before and after my rides. Requests for pictures started coming in one after another from friends and my mom's clients. All of those opportunities helped me to refine my skills very quickly. Eventually, I had quite a few people regularly requesting photos. This lead me to create Phorse Images, which soon took off. I am at every show and hardly ever put my camera down. Most of my free time is spent furthering my knowledge and taking my skills to the next level. As an equestrian myself, I know how much these photos mean to the owners and riders that receive them. I love being able to provide these memories to fellow horse enthusiasts who enjoy these animals as much as I do.
